For over 104 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been the nations leading mentoring program for children. The reason for our success is because of the powerful force of our one-on-one community based matches.

 In 2003 community leaders in Troup County committed themselves towards the goal of sponsoring a Big Brothers Big Sisters program. An affiliation with the Columbus, GA BBBS and its sponsoring organization, The Family Center of Columbus was established. In 2004 the “Northern Region”  branch of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Chattahoochee Valley opened and the first match in LaGrange was made.

 A match facilitated by Big Brothers Big Sisters is carefully administered, monitored and supported by our rigorous standards and trained personnel. Our staff strives for matches that are safe, well-suited, harmonious and built to last. That is why so much care is taken when screening and matching our program participants.

Research has found that BBBS matches consistently spend more time together, and continue as a match for longer periods, than do their peers in other mentoring programs. These matches are a powerful force for influencing children’s behavior because of our signature approach to mentoring.
